New Moon: Improving and reflecting on various aspects of your life

New Moon in Uttara Bhadrapada & Saturn’s movement

There will be a new moon in Uttara Bhadrapada nakshatra in Pisces on March 29th. Its symbol is the back legs of a funeral bed. Its shakti is the power to bring the rain and its desire is to find a foundation. Its meaning is the back lucky feet of a funeral cod and it is ruled by Ahirbudhnya, the god of fertility for earth and sky.

There is support here for planned actions, passion, and spiritual fire. Kundalini energy can be awakened through meditation and spiritual practices. It relates to the deep and profound, and to selflessness and living righteously.

Two other events happen on March 29th. A partial solar eclipse occurs in Pisces, and Saturn moves from Aquarius into Pisces after being in Aquarius for about three years. To put that into perspective, it takes the moon 2.25 days to go from one constellation to the next, it takes the sun 30 days to do that, and it takes Saturn 2.5 – 3 years, making it by far the slowest moving planet in the sky. Thus, this movement is significant. It is happening in Pisces, the 12th sign representing spirituality, travel, and intuition. It is the sign of idealism and inspiration.

If you know your Vedic astrology chart, you can see which house Pisces is from your Ascendant, your sun sign, and your moon sign. Then you can determine the effect of Saturn’s transit on your life based on the three houses it is affecting. As my teacher James Kelleher says: ‘On an individual level, Saturn’s transit can bring challenges in certain areas of life, but it can also be one of the most empowering transits for that same area. Saturn is not here to create limitations or fear. On the contrary, Saturn is the planet of strength. However, it often applies pressure and a sense of limitation as motivation. At the start of the transit, it’s common to experience challenges or obstacles in the area of life represented by the house Saturn is transiting. That’s Saturn’s wake-up call, asking: Have you done your homework in this area? If not, you’ll feel the pressure. But that feeling exists to push you toward improving and strengthening that part of life.’

Many people are intuitively feeling that this is a time of transformation. During times like these, it is important to make a conscious effort to go inward, reflect, meditate, and observe life without being reactive. Reflection on death is supported as is indicated by the nakshatra’s funeral bed symbology. Allow this reflection to bring you to more presence in the moment, filled with gratitude rather than desire and longing. Connect to your breath and your senses consistently to be connected to the power of now.
